Abstract
Analysis of the serum Cu values in 101 healthy pregnant women at various stages of pregnancy and in 37 women in the 3d trimester of pregnancy suffering from general pruritis showed values about 15-30% higher for the latter group. In 13 non-pregnant women, aged 18-62, treatment with either ethinyl estradiol or diethylstilbesterol was followed by an increase in the serum Cu. Some cyclic variation was found in the serum Cu level of 1 woman whose serum values were determined throughout her menstrual cycle. A parallelism was found to exist between this variation and her urinary excretion of 17-ketosteroids, 17-ketogenic steroids, pregnandiol and estrogens. Keywords
