Abstract
A variational treatment is used to calculate the contributions of longitudinal and transverse phonons towards the phonon conductivity of Ge in the Ziman limit. The matrix elements occurring in the formula for thermal conductivity are evaluated using the corrected expressions of three-phonon scattering strengths. Keywords
