Abstract
The discrimination against women in higher education is both complex and cumulative. Amongst aspects described here are admissions policies of universities, acceptance for higher degrees, the absence of women from prestigious posts, rates of pay, records of promotion, and research awards. Such discrimination is unacceptable in institutions which are, supposedly, communities of scholars and teachers, and financed almost entirely from public funds. Keywords
