Abstract
Two species of Acanthomolgus are associated with the gorgonian Muricea californica near La Jolla, California [USA]. A. eminulus sp. nov. is characterized by the 2nd antennal claws subequal and approximately as long as the 4th segment, by the very unequal length of the 2 setae on the 2nd segment of the female maxilliped and by the shape of the inner proximal expansion on the female 5th leg. A. pollicaris sp. nov. is distinguished by the prominent inner thumb-like process on the female 5th leg. The copepods, which are consistent members of the epifaunal community on the gorgonian, are cryptically colored and may feed on the mucus present on the polyps. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
