Abstract
Insulin instilled into the conjunctiva was absorbed with great rapidity and caused a fairly constant and consistent fall of blood sugar levels [in 24 rabbits]. The drop in blood sugar level persisted 4-5 hrs. as against 5-6 hrs. by the subcut. route. Apparently it requires about 60% more insulin by this method of admin. than the subcut. route, although the exps. are not conclusive on this point. Commercial insulin does not seem irritating to the eyes of animals. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
