Abstract
The turbidimetric titration method has been applied to polyvinyl chloride. In order to get a measure proportional to the concentration of precipitated polymer, it is necessary to record the scattered light at three angles (45°, 90° and 135°) and to correct for the changes in particles dimensions occuring during the titration. Cyclohexanone is used as solvent and a mixture of heptane and carbon tetrachloride (9/1) as precipitant. The relations between the volume fraction of precipitant γ, the polymer concentration and the molecular weights have been studied. Solubility curves are obtained for fractions and for unfractionated polymers and can be converted into approximate molecular weights distribution curves. Keywords
