Abstract
Recombinant human erythropoietin (Epogen) is widely used in patients on dialysis to correct the anemia of chronic renal failure. I wish to draw attention to the observation during the past year of five patients on hemodialysis who had visual hallucinations while taking erythropoietin. None of these patients had any evidence of delirium or psychosis, and there was no other medication or physical condition that could account for the visual hallucinations. There were no auditory hallucinations, disorientation, or cognitive impairments. Keywords
