Estimation of Relative Frequencies of Four Sperm Types in Drosophila Melanogaster

Abstract
The 4 sperm types of D. melanogaster (carrying a translocation between the X and the IV chromosomes) with which this paper is concerned are discussed in greater detail by Novitski and Sandier in Volume 43 of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. In the present paper explicit estimates of the relative frequencies of the 4 sperm types are obtained by the method of maximum likelihood. In addition, explicit expressions of the asymptotic variance and covariances of these estimates are presented.
