Abstract
Direction is a juxtaposition of two very different kinds of talent, the creative-imaginative, and the practical-administrative. A creative genius who cannot plan is likely to be a quite disastrous director, and a brilliant planner with no creative insight will be just as bad. There are, of course, plenty of examples of both, making prosperous careers in the theatre. Keywords
