Abstract
Observed 4 electrodermal responses during discrimination conditioning as a function of the probability that the cs would be followed by the ucs (a shock) in 32 male undergraduates. The responses were those (a) immediately following cs, (b) just prior to ucs onset, (c) following ucs onset (ucrs), or (d) occurring with omission of the ucs. Probabilities of ucs following cs were 0, 25, 75, and 100%. Responses just prior to ucs onset, termed anticipatory responses (ars), and the ucs omission responses increased in magnitude as probability of shock increased. Ucr magnitudes decreased as probability increased. Parallel results were obtained when a measure of subjective "certainty" was employed. (16 ref.)
