Abstract
A study has been made of the hypochlorination of styrene and of the by-products which accompany the formation of styrene chlorohydrin. A process was developed utilizing hypochlorination in aqueous acetone which gave a yield of 72% of the chlorohydrin. Application of this procedure was extended to several other olefins with good results. Keywords
