Abstract
The oxidative addition of RI (R=CH3, C2H3, C2H5, CH(CH(CH3)2 C6F5 or C6Cl5) to PtPh2(chel) (chel = 2,2′-bipyridine or 1, 10-phenantroline) only takes place for R=CH3. The resulting complexes of the PtIMePh2(chel) type readily undergo substitution reactions with AgX (X=Cl, Rr, CN, SCN, NCO or N3) to give thermally- and air-stable halo or pseudohalo-complexes, which can easily be isolated. Keywords
