The Demonstration of a Behavioral Intervention for Late Life Paranoia

Abstract
It has been estimated that 70 to 80% of the institutionalized aged suffer from moderate to severe psychopathology. Treatment, however, is rare and when supplied typically consists of chemotherapy. The present article describes the behavioral treatment of a 68 year old woman displaying paranoid behaviors in a nursing home setting. It is suggested that the application of a behavioral clinical approach carries great potential in the treatment of behavioral disorders in the aged.
