Abstract
The object of this research was to discover a method of rearing chiggers experimentally in the laboratory in order to provide colonies for the purpose of disease transmission studies of scrub typhus, and to provide chigger larvae for testing new acaricides and repellents under controlled laboratory conditions during the entire year. A second object was to obtain information about the little known but common pest species of chiggers affecting human beings in the United States. Keywords
