Abstract
To the Editor: In our opinion, the 5 patients discussed by Werner et al. in their article, "Graves's Disease and Total Thyroidectomy," which appeared in the January 19 issue of the Journal, still have remnant thyroid tissue. This is apparent from the evidence presented in the paper, including the scan of 1 mc. that is classified as "negative," which shows collection of the isotope in the subhyoidal region. This opinion is based on our experience, which has proved that to detect remnant tissue in patients with negative routine scans, whether or not they are taking thyroid medication, 10 to 30 . . .Keywords
