Evaluation of an Evacuated Glass Sampler for the Analysis of Volatile Organic Compounds in Ambient Air

Abstract
An evacuated glass sampler for instantaneous air sampling and a system for sample transfer, enrichment, and analysis is described. Sample stability during storage and diffusion into the sampler have been studied. Sample transfer, which is made with a gas elution technique, has been optimized regarding sampler temperature, gas flow, and elution volume. Enrichment efficiency has also been studied. An example from the paint industry is given.
