Abstract
Quantitative analysis of the adrenal glands of the wild Norway rat reveals that the total fats comprise 6.5% of the gland and that of this 3.7% are cholesterols. These figures are lower than the values for the adrenal gland of the domestic rat. However, since the cortex of the adrenal gland of the wild rat is 2-3 times larger than that of the domestic rat, the wild rat has much more cholesterol available for hormone production. Keywords
