Abstract
Four day-old chick embryos were inhibited or killed by the direct injn. of 450 to 600 [gamma] of 3-acetylpyridine into the yolk sac. The effect of concns. of 3-acetylpyridine up to 6000 [gamma] could be completely reversed by nicotinamide provided the latter were present in an approximate ratio of 1 part nicotinamide to 14 parts 3-acetylpyridine. The chick embryo showed little ability to convert nicotinic acid to the corresponding amide. Keywords
