Abstract
The results of the analytical and numerical investigations of the stopping power of a fast ion in an electron plasma under the action of the potential perturbation induced by the transit of a foregoing similar particle are presented. The analysis is based on the assumptions that the velocity of the two ions is the same and is fixed and that their motion occurs on the same straight line. The energy deposition profile in a dense plasma is computed by retaining two-ion correlation effects and is compared with the results of the individual-projectile approximation. Keywords
