Abstract
The result of the previous calculation on the scattering of mesons by a single nucleon has been extended to the case of multiple scattering by nucleons in nuclear matter. Methods familiar in the dispersion theory in physical optics are used, and the index of refraction of meson wave has been formally calculated. The absorption and diffraction scattering cross sections are computed and relation with the results of the recent experimental observation is discussed. Keywords
