Spectroscopic studies on organometallic compounds. Part XIII. Infrared spectra of octacarbonyldimanganese complexes and related compounds in the carbonyl stretching region

Abstract
An analysis has been made of the carbonyl stretching frequencies of binuclear complexes of formula [LM(CO)4]2(M = Mn, Tc, or Re; L a bridging ligand such as halide, RS, RSe, RTe, R2P, or R2As). The band assignments and approximate force constants were obtained using previously described methods. Some aspects of the bonding in these derivatives and in derivatives of the formulae R3M′Co(CO)4 and R3M′M(CO)5(M′= Si, Ge, Sn, or Pb; M = Mn or Re) are discussed in terms of their CO stretching vibrations and the derived force constants.
