Abstract
Absorption and metabolism of carbaryl were studied in resistant and susceptible strains of Spodoptera littoralis (Boisduva1). The rate of penetration was slightly higher in the CS-Strain than in the CR-Strain. This difference was quite consistent. Three metabolites were detected, which are possibly conjugates of carbaryl. There was no difference in the quality of the metabolites between the CS- and CR-Strains. However, there is an indication that a quantitative difference in the metabolism of carbaryl exists between the 2 strains. Carbaryl and 1-naphthol are not present in the excreta extraction.
