Abstract
The peritoneal catheter is the CAPD patient's lifeline. Advancement in catheter technology has made it possible to access the peritoneal cavity safely over extended periods. Infection at the exit site is still a problem, solution to which is being extensively researched. Successful outcome of catheter in an individual depends upon meticulous adherence to the guidelines provided here, which is a compilation of extensive experience of several large centers. Keywords
