Abstract
Lead germanate crystals show sufficient pyroelectric properties for simple applications. Additionally, the room temperature pyroelectric coefficient increases with a definite incorporation of e.g. Ba on the Pb site or Si on the Ge site /1/ /2/. In this way, pyroelectric response properties comparable to those of TGS can be reached. On the other hand, thin films of pyro- and ferroelectrics are of interest because of their special properties (e.g.: production of large area samples). Therefore, thin films of doped and undoped lead germanate were produced by sputtering. Some results are reported and future aspects are briefly discussed. Keywords
