Abstract
In 1957, a series of long-term soil fertility experiments was started in the southernmost province in Sweden. Background information is given in this paper, which is the first in a series of papers about these experiments. The experimental fields are described by means of biological, chemical, and physical soil characteristics, meteorological parameters, and field history. The experimental design is shown in detail and some special investigations coupled to the experiments are presented. Keywords
