A Method of Estimation of Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide Concentrations in the Litter Layer of Beech Woods

Abstract
The gases were collected in tubes of polyvinyl chloride, sealed at one end and buried in the litter. The closure of the other end was effected by a screw clip controlled from above the litter. Similar gas concns. were obtained from pairs of tubes originally filled with N and air respectively. For analysis the gases were squeezed or sucked from the sampling tubes into a Barcroft-Haldane apparatus.
