Abstract
Although prior research has found that uninsured individuals with chronic conditions receive less care than insured individuals,1,2 these studies have neither focused on those who experience the onset of a chronic condition nor analyzed the effect of not having insurance on health. Other studies have analyzed the effects of insurance status on individuals who experienced an injury but typically only in a single setting or for a narrowly defined type of injury.3-5Keywords
