Abstract
The reconstructability analysis is viewed in this paper as a set of procedures whose objective is to identify from among all possible collections of subsystems of a given overall system those which allow the reconstruction of specific properties of the overall system under given quality criteria. The paper focuses on algorithmic details of procedures for the generation of meaningful reconstruction hypotheses. It also describes the role of these generating procedures in the overall reconstructability analysis, as well as the place of the reconstructability analysis in the larger context of computer-aided systems problem solving. Included in the paper are FORTRAN IV definitions of the generating procedures, and a reference is made to similar definitions in the APL computer language. Keywords
