Abstract
THE recent occurrence of 2 cases of acute quinine intoxication, 1 of which was fatal, has prompted us to look into the current concepts of the mode of action of the drug and methods of treatment of the poisoned patient.1 , 2 Case ReportTwo male children, 3 and 5 years of age, were taken to the hospital by police car from their home in suburban Montreal. The mother stated that she had found the children pale and nauseated in the bedroom shortly after 11 a.m. Nearby was an open box of pills, of which only 3 remained.
