Abstract
Interference in white blood cell and thrombocytes metabolism was found in some of the patients with malignant disease who had not been treated previously. These changes were similar to those observed after radiotherapy and chemotherapy, but in a lesser degree. The direct antiglobulin consumption test (DACT) became positive or more positive if it was already so, in all patients getting chemotherapy. Local radiotherapy compared to chemotherapy produced similar but less marked changes in the test. The DACT was repeated after intervals without further treatment and the degree of positivity decreased, or the test became negative.
