Geometry of the Ventrobasal Complex: Functional Significance in Skin Sensation

Abstract
Szentagothai'S postulated geometrical arrangement of interactions within the ventrobasal complex has been examined in the light of recent electrophysiological investigations, and amplified in terms of extensive prethalamic divergence and convergence. Temporal features of thalamic responses have been used to formulate an explanation of psychophysical and cortical electrophysiological findings related to a simple sensory distortion.
