Abstract
Glycogen is extracted from tissue with trichloracetic acid (TCA) and estimated with an iodine reagent approximately, or after treating the extracts with alkali to eliminate glucose, with an anthrone reagent. The color intensity of the glycogen-iodine complex varies from one liver to another and is influenced by the treatment of the animals. A considerable part of the glycogen in rat muscle is not extracted by TCA, so that the method can not be used for muscle. Keywords
