Abstract
Evidence is given to indicate that synthetic folic acid and vit. Bc conjugate do not bring about maturation of rat bone marrow red blood cell precursors to the reticulocyte stage when such cells are incubated in vitro in a glucose-free Tyrode soln. Liver extracts containing the antipernicious anemia principle bring about this maturation. Normal human and rat sera likewise contain a factor causing this maturation, whereas, serum from a case of pernicious anemia in relapse did not. The liver antianemic factor is, therefore, more closely related to the maturation factor found in normal serum than is folic acid or its conjugated form. Keywords
