Abstract
The isolation by a long series of extractions of a plant growth substance, which promotes growth by in crease in cell size, from human urine is described in detail. The substance, which is named auxin, is an acid melting at 196[degree] and forms a lactone (also active) melting at 172-3[degree]. About 1 g. is present in 500 1. of urine. The crystalline material has an activity of 5 X1010 avena units per gram, an avena unit being the amount required to produce a curvature of 10[degree] in an oat coleoptile under specified conditions.This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
