Abstract
Provisional USP Corticotropin (porcine ACTH) is inactivated by dog blood, plasma, and serum at 37[degree] C in 3-4 hours. This ACTH is stable in 0.9% sodium chloride over a temperature range of 20-37[degree] C and a pH range of 2-7 for at least 5-6 hours. It is also generally stable in 0.9% sodium chloride for at least one hour at 100[degree] C at a pH of 1-2 but some experiments suggested slight reduction of activity under these conditions. Endogenous ACTH activity in human plasma is destroyed at 37[degree] C but appears to be stable for at least 5-6 months in the frozen state. Keywords
