Abstract
Three of the normal vibrational frequencies of alkali halide dimers are calculated on the basis of the potential function for an ionic model. The results indicate that the out‐of‐plane bending mode may have a frequency almost as high as the in‐plane stretching frequencies. A summary of the results of calculations for the six normal modes is presented. Keywords
