Abstract
Laser beams, when partially absorbed in epitaxial (Er2Eu1Ga0.7Fe4.3O12) magnetic garnet films, are used to thermally manipulate bubble and strip magnetic domains. Bubbles and strips can be created or annihilated, as well as captured and moved about freely by the light spot, without the use of magnetic circuits. Bubbles can be arranged in fixed arrays or propagated at high speeds. A novel form of reversible strip domain writing is demonstrated. Keywords
