Abstract
A mutation in gene MPN142 (orf6) was identified in the Mycoplasma pneumoniae cytadherence mutant III-4. MPN142 encodes virulence-specific proteins P90 and P40 (proteins B and C, respectively). Analysis of MPN142 in a cytadhering revertant and complementation using a recombinant wild-type allele confirmed the role of this mutation in the cytadherence defect. Keywords
