Abstract
When aged glycerol extract of pancreas was added in proper amount to a medium consisting of Na2CO3, K acid phosphate, urea and agar, it inhibited growth of Gram-negative, but not of Gram-positive bacteria. The inhibitory property was demonstrated to be due to trypsin, which digested Gram-negative, but was unable to digest Gram-positive bacteria. By use of this medium it was possible to differentiate the 2 groups.
