Abstract
The stability of a plane, straight-edged crack in a silicon crystal under varying tensile load is investigated by computer simulation using a sophisticated atmostic model which includes provision for the boundary conditions to vary with several degrees of freedom as crack propagation occurs. Trapping by the lattice is observed over a range of applied loads. Keywords
