Abstract
The AEconoguide Piston, designed for improved fuel economy by up to 4% and power output by up to 5%, is the product of AE pic, formerly Associated Engineering, linked in turn with Hepworth & Grandage and, therefore, with a backing of considerable technical and manufacturing experience in terms of pistons. This paper, written by two executives of the AE Developments Ltd company, describes work carried out to evolve a low‐friction skirt design without loss of essential oil distribution to the piston / cylinder interfaces. A truly biological exercise.
