Abstract
The external mixing of resonance states is considered in the framework of the continuum shell model. Numerical examples are given for O+ and I- resonance states in 16O. The external mixing is important for overlapping resonance states. It has properties similar to those of internal mixing and acts between resonance states with equal and different isospin. Keywords
