Dissolution of Hydroxyapatites Treated with Salivary Glycoproteins and Fluoride

Abstract
Dissolution in an acidic buffer of synthetic hydroxyapatites covered with various amounts of proteins (0–482.5 μg/ml·m2) and treated with different quantities of fluoride (0–10 ppm of F––) was studied. Analyses before and after protein coating were made on fluoridated samples. Both treatments individually or combined led to important decreases in apatite dissolution at pH 4 and 5. However, a small increase in dissolution was noted when fluoridation was performed before protein adsorption.Keywords
