Abstract
Present knowledge concerning the functions of the tentacle in the Pogonophora deals with it as an organ of respiration and for the processes of nutrition. For an account of these functions the reader is referred to: Ivanov (1952, 1955, and 1960), Jägersten (1956, and 1957), Kirkegaard (1956, and 1960), Hyman (1959), and Southward and Southward (1963). To these two functions a third can be added, that associated with reproduction. Keywords
