Abstract
The optical potential for the center of mass of two fragments in a three-body breakup channel does not resemble elastic optical potentials obtained in two-body channels. As a consequence the value of prior-form distorted wave Born approximation breakup theories based on center-of-mass optical potentials is questionable. Keywords
