Abstract
A new technique for visualization of the lacrimal drainage system uses computed tomography after topical application of 0.6 ml of water-soluble contrast medium to the conjunctival surface. The safety of the contrast medium was tested by slit lamp examination of eight rabbit eyes and four monkey eyes. Because no adverse affects were observed in the eyes of experimental animals, post traumatic, neoplastic and inflammatory conditions affecting the lacrimal drainage system in man were assessed with this technique, and excellent lacrimal system visualization was obtained. Keywords
