Production of Strange Particles inp−pCollisions at 2.85 Bev

From a sample of 98 hyperon production events observed in a liquid hydrogen bubble chamber the partial cross sections for various final states are found to be: ${\Sigma }^{+}{K}^{+}n-0.047\mathrm{}$, ${\Sigma }^{+}{K}^{0}p-0.030\mathrm{}$, ${\Sigma }^0{K}^{+}p-0.013\mathrm{}$, ${\Lambda }^0{K}^{+}p-0.051\mathrm{}$, ${\Sigma }^{-}{K}^{+}p{\pi }^{+}-0.003\mathrm{}$, ${\Sigma }^{+}\mathrm{KN}\pi -0.004\mathrm{}$, $\left({\Lambda }^0{\Sigma }^0\right)K^{+}p{\pi }^0-0.011\mathrm{}$, $\left({\Lambda }^0{\Sigma }^0\right)K^{0}p{\pi }^{+}-0.014\mathrm{}$, $\left({\Lambda }^0{\Sigma }^0\right)K^{+}n{\pi }^{+}-0.002\mathrm{}$, all in millibarns. For the first four processes the values are in general agreement with those calculated by Ferrari using a one-pion-exchange model. Only one example of $K$-pair production was observed, indicating a cross section less than 0.01 mb.
