Abstract
The authors study the Eden growth model on the square Manhattan lattice (SML). For this purpose it has been necessary to extend the standard Eden model in such a way that each act of growing is conceived as a directional process. By applying the position space renormalisation group technique, they find that the Eden processes on the SML and on the ordinary square lattice are in different universality classes. This finding and corresponding fractal dimensions are compared with results obtained for similar models of irreversible kinetic processes. Keywords
