Abstract

Barriers to syn–anti-isomerism via torsion about the CN double bond and via inversion at iminonitrogen obtained using CNDO/2 calculations indicate that the lowering of the barrier by heteroatoms attached to the imino-carbon atom is a reflection of a torsional contribution of the mechanism.
