Abstract
The Hauser-Feshbach formalism is generalized to include isospin. Examination of the consequences of this extension for typical nuclei indicates that significant enhancement in the cross section for emission of protons in proton-induced reactions is predicted. Level widths and densities deduced from fluctuation measurements are also affected. The results of some proton-induced reactions are interpreted in terms of isospin effects; new experiments are proposed which should yield information on isospin mixing and on level widths for states with differing isospin. Keywords
